According to some media reports, Mercedes Benz has urged the Indian government to introduce tax breaks for the automobile industry so they can build a sustainable business model for electric vehicles in the country.

EQ brand aims to develop a new generation of electric vehicles will be based on an architecture developed specifically for battery-electric models, which is scalable in every respect and usable across all models: the wheelbase and track width as well as all other system components, especially the batteries, are variable thanks to the modular building-block system.
But tax breaks for the import of electric vehicle through the CBU route looks unlikely at the moment as CBU import means a vehicle is completely built out of the country,
