Uber has fired Anthony Levandowski, he was at the center of its legal battle with Waymo. He had previously worked at Google and was associated with the company’s robocar effort for a long time. Levandowski left Waymo’s project to join Uber six month later. It was alleged by Waymo that stole 14000 documents of intellectual property and used the illicitly acquired knowledge to help Uber develop its Self-driving car technology.
Uber has said the it has fired Levandowski because he failed to cooperate with the company’s internal investigation into allegations made by Waymo. But the experts feel this move is not going to help the company come clean in this case and it does not protect the company from the grave charges of the lawsuit. In fact it has put the company in a situation where it can lose the legal battle and such move seems just a face saving act.
