OnStar GPS navigation helps police easily lift the series car theft suspects

Thieves who allegedly stole a Ford Focus on 4th December in Sharon likely regret “trading it in” for a Toyota RAV-4 that was stolen on 6th of December from Walnut Street in Foxboro. That’s because the Toyota had the OnStar GPS navigation system built in. The stolen car left behind did not.

After the Toyota owner notified Foxboro police the same day at 3:52 a.m. that his sports utility vehicle was gone, it was easily tracked by OnStar to White Street in Pawtucket, where officers arrested two men in the vehicle the same day before 5 a.m.

Foxboro police say that Erikson Candido and Givanny J. Duarte, both of Pawtucket, were arrested and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. The two were also linked to the theft of the Ford in Sharon, which was left behind on Walnut Street in Foxboro. Sharon police were notified and are investigating the earlier theft.
