NPO start transmitting pictures via DAB +

The Dutch Public Broadcasting (NPO) has started broadcasting images via DAB +. Through so-called ‘slides’ additional information is displayed while listening to Radio 1, pictorial 2, 3FM, 4, 5, 6, and Top 2000 News 24. Until recently offered only Radio 1 this service.

Currently, the national commercial and public radio stations in almost all of the Netherlands via digital samples. DAB +In addition to audio data can also be sent. In the Netherlands Radio 1 started in September 2013 with experimenting with pictures via DAB . Since Thursday are also Radio 2, 3FM, 4, 5, 6, 2000, News Top 24 with a slideshow.

Pluxbox developed for the NPO application pbRadiomanager that radio producers slideshow can create and control that are transmitted via DAB +. Being, yet few people will be able to see these pictures.

Besides that consumers still need to buy a receiver, it is mainly the more expensive devices that can display pictures. The cheaper receivers only have a display that text can be displayed.
