The Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi alliance and Google will soon enter into tie up to develop autonomous taxis and other related services, according to a report by Nikkei.
Report reveals that the two companies are in the final phase of the talks and on its conclusion, the Alliance and Waymo will cooperate in areas such as mobility as a service, development of a system that handles reservation and payments, and joint development of robotaxis.
Waymo is a leading player in autonomous vehicle space having tested its vehicles millions of miles and already launched a commercial self-driving taxi service in Phoenix, Arizona. The alliance is a leader in electric car market investing in next gen technologies with considerable manufacturing prowess.
The Alliance will be the third automaker to enter into such agreement with Waymo, as the company has already entered into similar deals with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Jaguar Land Rover.
