Trak Global has entered into an agreement with ForestCar to supply telematics services to peer-to-peer car sharing platform. It is known that Trak Global is the specialist arm of Trak Global Group (TGG) that focuses on technology solutions for the shared mobility sector.
With a technology approach developed in partnership with Trak Labs, TGG’s innovation hub, ForestCar will use Trak Global’s telematics platform to build customer confidence by enabling their customer’s cars to be monitored whilst they’re away on holiday.
Customers leave their vehicle with ForestCar at the designated airport car park, and the company rents their vehicle out to other customers until they return, in exchange for free parking and a share of the rental income.
The ForestCar representative temporarily installs one of Trak Global’s telematics units to the customer’s vehicle on arrival, giving the owner peace of mind that their car is being driven responsibly whilst they’re away on holiday. The device is then removed when the car is cleaned and returned to the owner at the end of the rental period.
The company by sharing cars aims to reduce the overall number of cars on the road, given that each car takes 6 tonnes of CO2 emissions to create. Plus, it also puts 10% of profits into planting trees.
