Mahindra to supply around 20,000 EVs

Mahindra in talks to supply around 20,000 electric three and four vehicles to about 10 entities.

MoneyControl citing Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, Mahindra & Mahindra reports that the company has signed a MoU with the Thane Municipal Corporation and is in talks with at least 3-4 cities to set up a fleet of electric vehicles.

The company is also hopeful of announcing a project with Uber “very soon” and a pilot may be started later this month. The company has also bagged from state-run Energy Efficiency Services (ESSL), to supply electric cars to employees of state-run companies

To be able to cope with the rising demand, Mahindra Electric is working on increasing its production capacity which is at present producing 1,000 electric three-wheelers a month.

According to the report, in 4-5 months the company hopes to reach optimum production capacity, despite constraints due to limited supply from parts suppliers.
