India: Hyderabad-based Olectra bags Rs 140-crore order from APSRTC

Olectra Greentech has received the letter of award from Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) to supply 100 E-buses under the FAME-II scheme of the Government of India. The value of the order is approximately Rs 140 crores.

As per the deal, the buses will be delivered over a period of 12 months. During the contract period, Olectra will undertake the maintenance of the buses. These buses will be deployed at Alipiri (Tirupathi) Depot. With this new order, the total order book of Olectra has gone up to 1,450 buses.

KV Pradeep, CMD, Olectra Greentech, said, Olectra Greentech is committed to its efforts to reduce pollution levels through its electric public transport system. The company has been operating its buses in Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Surat, Dehradun, Silvassa, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, and Kerala, and will now cater to multiple locations in AP.   

These 09-meter air-conditioned buses have a seating capacity of 35+D. The lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery installed in the bus enables it to travel around 180 km on a single charge, based on traffic and passenger load conditions.

Olectra has completed over four crore kms on Indian roads and reduced Co2 emissions by around 35,700 tonnes till date. The company has delivered over 400 buses to various States.
