USA: According to a recent news, Aruba Networks has acquired Meridian, a U.S. Start-up that offers apps and an app making platform for indoor geo-location.

As in news, this acquisition demonstrates the interest of Wi-Fi networks providers for indoor geo-location. Indeed indoor positioning adds value to their network, offering an additional opportunity of monetization towards their business customers.

As per the source, Meridian has built mobile apps for the Art Institute of Chicago, Boston Children’s Hospital, Miami Children’s Hospital, Macy’s Manhattan store, Portland International Airport, the Bellagio hotel and the Venetian-Palazzo resort in Las Vegas.

Keerti Melkote, founder and CTO, Aruba Networks, said: “The addition of Meridian will enable enterprises to tap into a wealth of network-driven information so that they can better engage their customers with more personalized services. This is a clear opportunity for Wi-Fi to become not only an enabling platform for BYOD, but now across industries, a revenue-producing, customer engagement platform for the business.”
