PowerMetz Energy Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Mercury EV-Tech Limited, plans to enter the battery manufacturing sector by constructing a 3.2 GW lithium-ion battery pack manufacturing facility at Vadodara.
Mercury EV-Tech has purchased a high-throughput, fully automated production line for the facility from a Chinese equipment supplier. Pilot production is set to start in mid of May 2025.
This facility will enable the development and production of a number of battery chemistries, including as sodium-ion cells, lithium iron phosphate (LFP), nickel manganese cobalt (NMC), and super-capacitor modules. These facilities will have multi-chemistry versatility, which enables them to serve a variety of batteries, including stationary energy storage and electric vehicles.
