RealVNC has portedits Automotive SDK to Tizen IVI reference platform that enables smartphone to vehicle connectivity leveraging the MirrorLink technology. The project will open up broad opportunities for extending existing IVI products through integration with Tizen IVI, a GENIVI compliant platform which is also the reference implementation adopted by the Automotive Grade Linux project.
The demo was shown at the recent Tizen Development Summit in Shanghai and will also be seen at the RealVNC User Group event in Shanghai on November 17, 2014.
RealVNC has successfully ported its MirrorLink Certified VNC Automotive SDK onto Tizen IVI, expanding the range of platforms the solution supports. VNC Automotive allows safe and secure access and control of a mobile device from a vehicle head unit or infotainment system.
“Many Car OEMs, Automotive Tier1s and System Integrators are deploying open source software and actively participating in Tizen development. The VNC Automotive SDK will help provide a richer experience for consumers connecting their smart devices to the Automotive Head Units in the car. We are pleased that RealVNC is providing solutions with Tizen IVI to enable mobile device integration with the automotive head unit.”
