Uber to invest in autonomous driving firm Pony.ai

According to news reported, Uber plans to buy more than $10 million worth of shares in Pony.ai’s initial public offering (IPO). Uber might also think at implementing Pony.ai’s technology in autonomous taxis outside of the United States.

Pony.ai an autonomous vehicle technology firm is based in China.

Uber has been collaborating with companies developing autonomous technology. Earlier, Uber had a significant and long-standing partnership with Volvo, where Volvo provided base vehicles for Uber’s self-driving car fleet. It played a crucial role in Uber’s early autonomous vehicle development. Uber had a collaboration with Aurora, a self-driving technology company. This partnership involved integrating Aurora’s self-driving system into Uber’s vehicles. However, this collaboration also ended.

Uber has also worked with various smaller companies and research institutions for specific aspects of autonomous vehicle technology, such as sensor development or mapping solutions.Uber has partnered with other automated driving businesses.
