In a new initiative to drive open industrial IoT development and help grow a community to build future Industry 4.0 solutions, Microsoft and the BMW Group have joined hands to launch Open Manufacturing Platform.
Built on the Microsoft Azure industrial IoT cloud platform, the Open Manufacturing Platform is intended to provide a reference architecture with open source components based on open industrial standards and an open data model.
The open manufacturing platform will help community members and partners to build capability to develop their own services and solutions utilizing industrial use cases and sample code,
It is expected that the technology framework and open community to share smart factory solutions across the automotive and manufacturing sectors will significantly accelerate future industrial IoT developments.
