Star Navigation System offers improved aircraft safety through real time data monitoring

Star Navigation Systems Group Limited along with General Directorate for Civil Aviation (DGAC) of France and Astrium Services, has started working on developing technology that will enable companies to access in flight positioning data on the real time basis. This technology will be used for monitoring aircrafts flying through air spaces that are inaccessible to the ground based tracking and monitoring system.

The core of the system will be the STAR-ISMS, which monitors the data through an integrated satellite link between aircraft and ground stations. The new system will improve safety and efficiency at the same time by optimizing air routes and providing accurate information during search and rescue operations. Its MAYDAY feature can automatically trigger an alert in case of an emergency by sending critical data like location to search teams.
