Waymo has introduced its commercial self-driving service, Waymo One. John Krafcik, CEO, Waymo made the announcement through a post on Medium.
He informed that the company will first offer Waymo One to hundreds of early riders who have already been using technology. Over time, the company hopes to make it available to even more members of the public as it adds vehicles and drive in more places.
The company’s early rider program will continue as a way for a select group generating ongoing insights. They’ll help test early features before those new capabilities graduate to Waymo One.
At first, Waymo-trained drivers will supervise our Waymo One vehicles. He said the company believe that Waymo One will make the roads safer and easier for everyone to navigate.
Self-driving technology is new to many, so the company is proceeding carefully with the comfort and convenience of riders in mind, Krafcik said in the post.
