CalAmp's four new addition to its wireless devices for MRM

CalAmp Corp., a provider of wireless products, services and solutions, will introduce the addition of four new GPRS and HSPA wireless communications products for Mobile Resource Management (MRM) applications at the Mobile World Congress Conference and Exhibition in Barcelona. This new Location Messaging Unit (LMU) and Trailer Tracking Unit (TTU) products will provide GPS tracking and cellular-based wireless communications capabilities to 12-volt and 24-volt vehicles.

These products are equipped with low-power 16G-force accelerometers capable of measuring hard braking, hard acceleration and collision events. Each product employs CalAmp’s pioneering PEG(TM) (Programmable Event Generator) and PULS(TM)(Programming, Update and Logistics System), the company’s industry-leading on-board alert engine and over-the-air device management and maintenance application, respectively. It also features an integrated wireless antenna designed to deliver unrivaled performance and expand installation flexibility.

The additions to CalAmp’s wireless data communications product portfolio for MRM include the following:

— LMU-2000 is tracking product for fleet management and insurance markets. The unit plugs into the OBDII vehicle port to obtain power and ground as well as sense vehicle on/off state. The LMU-2000 features a 200 mAh back-up battery, a serial port and no I/O ports.

— LMU-2200 is intended for discreet installation for fleet management and insurance market applications. The LMU-2200 comes equipped with a fixed harness, a 200 mAh back-up battery, a multiplexed serial port and 3 I/O ports.

— The LMU-2700 is a product for fleet management. The LMU-2700 features a connector-equipped harness, a 1000 mAh back-up battery, 2 switch-powered serial ports, 8 I/O ports, and a 1-wire bus for driver ID and temperature sensors.

— The TTU-2800 is a water-sealed product designed to meet the environmental and extended operations requirements of the trailer tracking and fleet management markets. The TTU-2800 comes equipped with a fixed harness, a 3800 mAh back-up battery, a multiplexed serial port and 3 I/O ports.
