Vector upgrades automotive ethernet interfaces

Stuttgart, GERMANY, 2024-01-16 – Vector now supports the IEEE standards for Automotive Ethernet 2.5GBASE-T1, 5GBASE-T1 and 10GBASE-T1 in its VN5650 and VN5240 Automotive Ethernet interfaces. Users can configure the Vector Ethernet interfaces initially. Alternatively, they can simply extend their interfaces to MultiGBASE-T1 via new physical layer modules. This facilitates simulation, analysis, and tests for multi-gigabit applications.

A suitable physical layer module (VNmodule60) for the two Vector interfaces VN5650 and VN5240 provides users with MultiGBASE-T1 support.

The MultiGBASE-T1 ports are freely configurable in the speeds 2.5GBASE-T1, 5GBASE-T1 and 10GBASE-T1. The interface’s switches and TAPs allow flexible combination of the ports with other Ethernet standards. This enables simple media conversion from standard Ethernet to MultiGBASE-T1.

The Ethernet uplinks with 10GBASE-T or USB3.0 are already available on the VN5650 interface. They connect the Vector tools to the MultiGBASE-T1 network.

In the future, the VN5650 interface will support MACsec and OPEN Alliance TC10 (Wake/Sleep) for data streams in the multi-gigabit range. This support will be enabled through a software update.

The new physical layer module for MultiGBASE-T1 completes the flexible support of all relevant Automotive Ethernet physical layer standards from 10BASE-T1S to 100BASE-T1 and 1000BASE-T1. The modular design of the Vector interfaces VN5650 and VN5240 offers a flexible combination of all these standards.
