Industry analysts at Counterpoint Research have ranked HERE Technologies as the world’s number one location platform. HERE maintains the top spot in Counterpoint’s annual ranking of the capabilities and offerings from the largest 25 location data vendors. The annual ranking includes Google, TomTom, Mapbox and more.
HERE takes the top spot in the annual ranking for the fourth time consecutively. The 2021 Counterpoint Research, “Location Platforms Evaluation and Analysis” evaluates the leading 25 mapping and location platform providers across seven categories, on more than 61 capabilities and ecosystem success parameters. HERE leads the pack in all seven categories and across more than 40 of the criteria, including: HD Map and Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS), Real-Time Traffic, Routing, Navigation, Electric Vehicle (EV) Services, Tracking & Positioning, Security & Privacy, as well as partner momentum in Automotive, Transport & Logistics and other industries.
Neil Shah, Vice President of Research at Counterpoint stated: “With a few years in the making, the HERE platform has thus evolved into an industry-first and one-stop platform with infrastructure and toolsets for companies to develop, license, and integrate first and third-party mapping and location intelligence data into their applications at scale. Further, companies can generate, analyze, visualize and monetize the data using the same platform. HERE has become the ‘Switzerland of location platforms’ with an open, neutral and privacy-centric offering compared to Google or other vertical players.”
Commercially, the analysts point to the HERE platform’s strong foundation, with enterprise-grade location data, mapping, and spatial intelligence capabilities, powering a suite of location applications for various industries. The analysts highlight the demand for HERE mapping-as-a-service across heavy industries, wide adoption of HERE Routing software for electric vehicle (EV) navigation, and the HERE ISA Map for carmakers to comply with the European Union’s regulation for vehicles to be equipped with Intelligent Speed Assistance.
Finally, Counterpoint believes Spatial Intelligence is the next big opportunity for HERE as 3D digital representations of reality, digital twin technology and augmented reality-centric applications grow. In the short term, key trends driving HERE growth include: IoT and mobility applications such as asset tracking, connected, automated and electric car deployments; 5G network rollouts, enabling the growing wave of enterprise digital transformation; and 3D visualizations for digital twin building for all the sensor data emanating from smart cities, buildings, retail, and factories.
“We are proud to have the HERE team’s hard work recognized in this top position. The location market is further accelerating, and we have welcomed again many new customers and partners to our HERE Location Platform supporting them with the industries best location data and software and serving many industries including automotive, transportation & logistics and retail to just name a few,” said Edzard Overbeek, CEO at HERE Technologies.
“From powering autonomous driving systems through our industry-leading HD and ADAS maps or providing real-time visibility into supply chains and first-middle-last mile delivery systems, to decreasing EV range anxiety with advanced routing algorithms, the excitement and demand for spatial intelligence is growing fast,” concluded Overbeek.
