EasyMile’s autonomous Tow-Tractor leads industry with IFOY AWARD win

TractEasy has been recognised as the year’s best autonomous guided vehicle (AGV) solution for its outstanding technical and strategic achievements in intralogistics, as well as ability to generate stimuli for innovation in the AGV & Intralogistics Robots category of the IFOY AWARD (International Intralogistics and Forklift Truck of the Year).

The first driverless, electric tow tractor enabling autonomous material handling in indoor and outdoor intralogistics processes, TractEasy is designed to offer lean logistics. Its proven ability to deliver increased safety and flexibility, while significantly reducing operating costs is a game changer for material handling.

“For EasyMile, this award is recognition of the maturity of our solution. We developed TractEasy in response to the growing need for operational efficiency and flexible processes in material handling, using our core expertise in driverless technology. We can be proud of TractEasy real-word deployments already delivering benefits,” said EasyMile’s General Manager, Benoit Perrin.

PSA uses TractEasy to move parts at their car manufacturing plant in Sochaux, France where GEODIS operates the logistics processes. “In the next 5 years I see connected 4.0 warehouses, a lot of automation and other ways of identifying flows. I think we’re really at the beginning of a new era that will be highly automated,” said Thierry Schnepp, Geodis’ Projects Director for the French Industrial Markets of the Contract Logistics line of business.

TractEasy’s win follows an innovation check by an international expert jury that received high-ratings, describing the solution as: “…an automated vehicle that achieves safe navigation in the outdoor area using the principle of sensor fusion, and in specific individual cases the vehicle, which has been very well thought out and implemented extremely professionally, can be very helpful. The reliability and driving behaviour are excellent.”

It also solidifies the driverless tow-tractor’s “Best in Intralogistics” seal for Certified Innovation by the IFOY AWARD which visibly documents to the outside world the high degree of innovation of the nominated products and solutions that have successfully completed the IFOY test. Only those innovations that got the certificate have passed the three-part IFOY audit and have passed the independent intralogistics test.
