EV Ready India dashboard launched

Date: October 17, 2023. – Shri R K Singh, Union Minister for Power and New and Renewable Energy, introduced the EV-Ready India dashboard, a digital platform that delivers real-time data and analysis on India’s electric vehicle (EV) sector. The OMI Foundation created the dashboard to encourage EV adoption across many stakeholders, including the industry, policymakers and end consumers.

Comprehensive data on EV sales, charging infrastructure, demand patterns, and total cost of ownership are compiled by the EV-Ready India Dashboard. Along India’s route to Net Zero emissions, it also tracks lowered emissions. The dashboard offers a distinctive viewpoint on India’s EV investment environment and projects market expansion. It also pinpoints EV hotspots within the nation.

The dashboard projects that India’s EV industry would expand at 45.5% Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) between 2022 and 2030. The anticipated sales of electric two-wheelers (E2W) will more than double from 6,90,550 units in 2022 to 1,39,36,691 units in 2030.

RK Singh said during launch of dashboard that transition to an electric future is inevitable. He emphasized on need for India to achieve energy independence and establish itself as a significant global economy. He also mentioned the importance of decarbonizing the transportation industry, which is responsible for 18% of India’s carbon emissions. He the government is actively supporting electric vehicles (EVs) and is preparing to roll out another production-linked incentive (PLI) program for EV battery sector.
