Greetings from Telematics Wire!

Kuch bhi! This was my reaction, when I read that somebody was using Apple Vision Pro while driving Tesla in FSD mode. Apple Vision Pro, which was released recently, provides an excellent immersive and mixed reality experience. It is expensive st US$3500. It can possibly have its app ecosystem growing in coming years and someday we may see it assisting in driving too! (Kuch bhi, a hindi word at times used to express exasperation)

Waymo, are you next line after Cruise robotaxi! Waymo AV on 6th Feb'24, collided with a cyclist in San Francisco. This incident could impact the general perception about safety and viability of autonomous vehicle. We will have to wait for a week or so before we can say that Waymo autonomous vehicle was in complete control when this incident happened.

Ford is planning to do away with parking assist, as it is not used much. Ford is analysing data from connected vehicle to assess the features being used and those which are not used much and they could be removed to optimise vehicle cost.

On our home front, fleet management system called FlexiFleet developed by CDAC Trivandrum was transferred to three industry players at Digital India FutureLABS Summit 2024. According to data available in public domain FlexiFleet features include- Live Tracking, Route Optimization, Fuel Management, Driver Behavior Monitoring, Maintenance Management and Reports and Analytics. Not sure, if FlexiFleet has any feature which will make it stand out from the many available fleet management system.

Have a great weekend!
