Wheeling introduces contactless parking payments with the ParkMobile App

People in the city will now be able to pay for parking on their mobile device.

ParkMobile, has partnered with the City of Wheeling, West Virginia, to enable residents and visitors to pay for parking on their mobile device. The ParkMobile app is the first mobile parking app in the city and will be available at more than 1,200 parking spaces around town.

New signage will be posted around the City of Wheeling to provide information to drivers on how to pay for parking. To use the app, a user enters the zone number posted on stickers and signs around the meter or lot, selects the amount of time needed, and touches the “Start Parking” button to begin the session. The user can then extend the time of the parking session right from the app, without having to go back to the meter.

ParkMobile has a large customer base in West Virginia with about 140,000 registered users.

The app is widely available throughout the state in most major cities including Charleston, Huntington, Morgantown, Charles Town, Harpers Ferry, and more. The app is also available on the campus of West Virginia University. Beyond the state, the ParkMobile app can be used to pay for parking in over 400 cities in the U.S. including many in the Mid-Atlantic region like New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburg, Washington, D.C., and more.

“The app is very easy to use. If you’re running late to a meeting and need to pay on the run or get held up and won’t make it back to your vehicle before the meter runs out of time, you have the option to pay for parking right in the palm of your hand,”
