Delhi to fast track towards electric commercial vehicle fleets

27 Nov 2023 Lt Gov of Delhi, VK Saxena has approved the scheme regulating the transport aggregator and delivery service provider. LG has given nod to the Delhi Motor Vehicle Aggregator and Delivery Service Provider Scheme 2023, which was earlier approved by the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and sent to his office last month.

This scheme provides guidelines for transition of commercial vehicles to EVs while following high standards for public safety and service quality.

Under this scheme, by 2030, commercial vehicle fleets of all aggregators- delivery service providers, e-commerce entities and transport aggregators in Delhi will go electric in phases. All fleet aggregators, delivery service providers and e-commerce companies will have to switch to electric vehicle by 1st April 2030. The transition target for fleet aggregator is-

  1. Two Wheelers- 10% within six months, 50% in two years and 100% in four years
  2. Three Wheelers- 10% within six months, 50% in two years and 100% in four years
  3. Four Wheelers- 5% within six months, 50% in three years and 100% in five years

To enforces compliance, stringent monetary penalties for violations have been recommended ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹1,00,000 per instance.
