Pioneer unveils android-based infotainment systems for car OEMs in India

Date: July 24, 2023 – Pioneer, has introduced Android-based infotainment systems for car OEMs in India. The new infotainment systems are designed to provide car owners with a more intuitive and user-friendly experience.

Pioneer India, which now receives around 50% of its revenue from the aftermarket and the balance from product deliveries to authorized vehicle dealers, is now considering a venture into direct-OEM supply in India. Pioneer India has decided to establish two R&D facilities in the nation, one each in Gurugram and Bengaluru, in order to foster local innovation and create new goods that would satisfy regional consumer demands.

One of the key features of Pioneer’s Android-based infotainment systems is their compatibility with various smartphone devices. This allows users to easily connect their phones to the car’s dashboard and access their favorite apps, music, and navigation services. The systems also support voice commands, making it safer and more convenient for drivers to control their entertainment and communication options while on the road.

A lot of in-car touchscreen systems have been built on the Linux OS, which is renowned for its longevity and stability. However, as more OEMs around the world adopt Automotive Android, the trend is shifting. For several of its automotive models in India and around the world, Volvo, for instance, collaborated with Google to co-develop infotainment systems based on Automotive Android OS.

The introduction of Pioneer’s Android-based infotainment systems is expected to disrupt the Indian automotive market by providing car OEMs with a competitive edge. With their advanced features, seamless connectivity options, and focus on safety, these systems offer a unique value proposition for both car manufacturers and consumers.

Overall, Pioneer’s Android-based infotainment systems are set to redefine the driving experience in India by combining cutting-edge technology with user-centric design principles. As car OEMs embrace these innovative solutions, we can expect a new era of connected cars that prioritize convenience, entertainment, and safety.
